Receptionist to Lawyer: Natalie Menchikova admitted as an Australian Lawyer

Today marks an incredibly proud day at CE Family Law as we celebrate Natalie Menchikova being admitted into the legal profession as an Australian Lawyer.

We would like to share a little snippet of Natalie’s wonderful career journey so far.

Natalie joined CE Family Law as a Receptionist in December 2009 and went on to be the PA to founder and partner David Edney for 8 years. During this time Natalie worked closely with David on matters and gained great insight into family law. In 2021, with some encouragement from David, Natalie took the brave step to commence her law degree online through Charles Darwin University whilst working full-time as a paralegal at CE Family Law.

When asked what inspired her to study law Natalie said “I learned so much from David and I really admired the way he approached family law, through this experience I grew a desire to learn more. David encouraged me to study law, and I am so grateful for that. I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support and mentorship from David and the team at CE, the support and flexibility enabled me to study whilst juggling work, deadlines, and assignments”.

Just one month before graduating Natalie became a mother to her gorgeous son and sat her final exam just weeks after giving birth. During maternity leave, Natalie completed her PLT with the College of Law.

David said “Study is hard; Studying and working full time is harder; Studying, working full time and having a baby is impossible – Natalie did all that and more finishing her final exam days after her son was born. I (and the CE team) am so proud of what Natalie has achieved, today is a very special day”.
